The firm was established in 1987 to provide effective solutions for the built environment. In 1990, the firm incorporated in the State of California, as The Arcanthus Corporation, and is a woman owned business.

Staff Qualifications

Key personnel are licensed architects, certified interior designers, and certified facility managers. These professionals possess specific project experience ranging from the programming and design phase through construction and occupancy phases. Our primary project team has provided continuity and focus for the company since 1987.

Governmental Relations

We maintain a successful track record and relationship with many local city and county jurisdictions, throughout the State of California. Archetype International is the author of the Project Development Process for the City of Santa Ana. Our Principals have served as appointed members of various government planning and review boards at the local levels of government.

Community Participation/Credentials

John Secor, AIA, CFM, CID, Principal Architect, is a 1980 Architecture graduate of Cal Poly Pomona. John is also certified by NCARB, IFMA, & CCIDC. John is an appointed member of the County of Orange North Tustin Advisory Committee. He has participated with the City of Santa Ana to review planning and project development policies. John is an instructor of Facilities, Planning & Design at UCI and an instructor in the Interior Design & Architecture Departments at Orange Coast College.
Trish Secor, NCIDQ #4942, CID #1692, CFM, LEED AP, President, earned a B.A. degree in Environmental Design (SDSU, 1979) and has practiced continually since 1980. She was among the first Interior Designers in California to obtain Certification in 1993, and became a Certified Facility Manager in 1996. She has been honored for efforts in advocacy & education by the Building Owners and Managers Association and the International Facility Managers Association as Member of the Year for both organizations (1993 and 1996). Trish is an interior design adjunct instructor at Orange Coast College.

JOHN D. SECOR, AIA, NCARB, CID, CFM - Principal Architect
John Secor, a licensed Architect, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1980. John is an NCARB certified licensed architect, with an expertise in the strategic application of facility architecture and interior planning. Since joining Archetype International in 1987, John has been responsible for the technical supervision of all planning, design, and production operations of the company. In 1996 John became a Certified Facility Manager through IFMA, further signifying his knowledge in facilities operations and design. Currently John is the instructor of the Facilities Planning and Design course at UCI’s Facility Management, Certificate Program. John is also an instructor at Orange Coast College. Mr. Secor is the chair of the OC IFMA Education Committee and has been a featured speaker at both World Work Place and Facility Forum national conferences. In 2000, John authored, “Project Team Partnerships” for Office & Commercial Real Estate Magazine and has also written the “Project Development Process” guide for the City of Santa Ana. He continues to provide service to his community in the form of public appointments to the North Tustin Advisory Committee and a LAFCO committee (appointed by the Orange County Board of Supervisors). John’s professional affiliations include AIA, NCARB, IFMA, BOMA, CCIDC, and ICBO.

TRISH SECOR, NCIDQ#4945, CID, CFM, LEED-AP - President/Principal Designer
Trish Secor is the founding member of Archetype International. For over 30 years, her analytical and creative skills as a facility planner and design professional have contributed to real estate decision making for many significant US firms and agencies. Specializing in Strategic Facility Planning, Trish’s project range of experience includes commercial and industrial projects, high rise, retail, government agencies and R & D facilities. Supporting activities include professional membership in the International Facility Manager Association (IFMA) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). She has been active in educational efforts and government relations activities for BOMA on a state wide level. Both Associations have voted her “Member of the Year”. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art/Environmental Design from San Diego State University (1979) and earned subsequent certification by NCIDQ in 1983. In 1996 she qualified for and was granted Certified Facility Manager status by IFMA. Trish is currently an adjunct instructor for the Interior Design Program at Orange Coast College.
