Staff Qualifications

Key personnel are licensed architects, certified interior designers, and certified facility managers. These professionals possess specific project experience ranging from the programming and design phase through construction and occupancy phases. Our primary project team has provided continuity and focus for the company since 1987.

John Secor, AIA, CFM, CID, Principal Architect, is a 1980 Architecture graduate of Cal Poly Pomona. John is also certified by NCARB, IFMA, & CCIDC. John is an appointed member of the County of Orange North Tustin Advisory Committee. He has participated with the City of Santa Ana to review planning and project development policies. John is an instructor of Facilities, Planning & Design at UCI and an instructor in the Interior Design & Architecture Departments at Orange Coast College.
Trish Secor, NCIDQ #4942, CID #1692, CFM, LEED AP, President, earned a B.A. degree in Environmental Design (SDSU, 1979) and has practiced continually since 1980. She was among the first Interior Designers in California to obtain Certification in 1993, and became a Certified Facility Manager in 1996. She has been honored for efforts in advocacy & education by the Building Owners and Managers Association and the International Facility Managers Association as Member of the Year for both organizations (1993 and 1996). Trish is an interior design adjunct instructor at Orange Coast College.

John Secor

Principal Architect

JOHN D. SECOR, AIA, NCARB, CID, CFM - Principal Architect
John Secor, a licensed Architect, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1980. John is an NCARB certified licensed architect, with an expertise in the strategic application of facility architecture and interior planning. Since joining Archetype International in 1987, John has been responsible for the technical supervision of all planning, design, and production operations of the company. In 1996 John became a Certified Facility Manager through IFMA, further signifying his knowledge in facilities operations and design. Currently John is the instructor of the Facilities Planning and Design course at UCI’s Facility Management, Certificate Program. John is also an instructor at Orange Coast College. Mr. Secor is the chair of the OC IFMA Education Committee and has been a featured speaker at both World Work Place and Facility Forum national conferences. In 2000, John authored, “Project Team Partnerships” for Office & Commercial Real Estate Magazine and has also written the “Project Development Process” guide for the City of Santa Ana. He continues to provide service to his community in the form of public appointments to the North Tustin Advisory Committee and a LAFCO committee (appointed by the Orange County Board of Supervisors). John’s professional affiliations include AIA, NCARB, IFMA, BOMA, CCIDC, and ICBO.

Trish Secor

TRISH SECOR, NCIDQ#4945, CID, CFM, LEED-AP - President/Principal Designer
Trish Secor is the founding member of Archetype International. For over 30 years, her analytical and creative skills as a facility planner and design professional have contributed to real estate decision making for many significant US firms and agencies. Specializing in Strategic Facility Planning, Trish’s project range of experience includes commercial and industrial projects, high rise, retail, government agencies and R & D facilities. Supporting activities include professional membership in the International Facility Manager Association (IFMA) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). She has been active in educational efforts and government relations activities for BOMA on a state wide level. Both Associations have voted her “Member of the Year”. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art/Environmental Design from San Diego State University (1979) and earned subsequent certification by NCIDQ in 1983. In 1996 she qualified for and was granted Certified Facility Manager status by IFMA. Trish is currently an adjunct instructor for the Interior Design Program at Orange Coast College.

ROBERT GLAUSER - Project Architect
Robert Glauser received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal Poly Pomona in 1979, and subsequently became a licensed architect. Bob has worked with Archetype International since 1987. His experience includes health club facilities, office, R & D and government agencies. Bob’s responsibilities include design, project management, computer documentation coordination, and support for Archetype International’s projects.

HAN LE - Project Designer
Han joined Archetype International in January, 1998. He has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences in 1990 and a Certificate Degree in Interior Design. Han is a talented designer supporting the firm with his unique capabilities in graphics and CAD design. Han is a valuable team member providing innovative design solutions for many commercial and educational projects. Han also manages the computer-related documentation for most projects.

Stephanie Belanger

Project Designer

STEPHANIE BELANGER - Project Designer
Stephanie Belanger has an Associates Degree and Interior Design Professional Level Certificate from Orange Coast College. Stephanie worked for eight years in the hospitality industry prior to AI. Since joining the firm in 2011, she has contributed her talents to large scale interior design projects for Whittier Law School as well as small renovation projects and tenant improvements for a variety of property management firms. Stephanie has an accomplished skill in preparing artistic renderings for our clients as well as a proficiency in architectural working drawings, project management and project documentation. Stephanie is in the process of obtaining her NCIDQ certification..

WLS-KIESEL ADVOCACY CENTER

Whittier Law School is currently building on the future, with an ambitious project: The Kiesel Advocacy Center. The project includes a 134 spectator seat court room, judge’s chambers and a jury deliberation room with advanced technology throughout. These facilities will be located within the law school in 4,400 SF of recaptured space. The use of natural stone and beautiful hardwoods creates an elegant venue to support activities for both students and the community. Archetype International has provided both the architecture and interior design for this exciting project.

Kiesel Center

NIXON PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY

Archetype International was retained in 2004 by the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Foundation. The firm provided interior planning, interior architecture and interior design services to support a 25,000 SF Archive Library in preparation for the library to become a Presidential Library and transferred to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Archetype International provided construction management support for a new 60,000 SF Archive Storage facility on site. The projects and renovations were designed in conformance with strict NARA standards. The facility is designated a federal installation and NARA’s only Orange County facility. Numerous interior renovation projects have been provided at this facility since that time, including theater renovations, ADA upgrades, the Helicopter exhibit, and a new interior exhibit entry.

Nixon Library

INVENSYS-WONDERWARE-TRICONEX

Invensys, the world's leading supplier of industrial automation software, has a legendary philosophy for providing an office environment which promotes the inventive spirit. Archetype International began working with the company in 1996, as the company expanded into various office locations throughout the USA, Canada and Europe. In 2000, the Wonderware headquarters was consolidated into a creative corporate campus, located in Lake Forest, CA. Archetype International provided both architecture and interior planning and design services for this 3 building campus. Facilities includes a large scale conference center which can be transformed into project rooms as needed, a customer training facility, R & D, engineering labs, and a fitness center. In 2011, Triconex, another Invensys company, which supplies products, systems and services for safety, critical control turbomachinery applications, relocated from Irvine to the Lake Forest campus. Projects have been completed in California, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Virginia and also in Europe, Asia, and South America.

THE O.C. REGISTER

The Orange County Register offices and Print Facilities encompass approximately 1,000,000 SF in Orange County. Archetype International has provided facility support services in the forms of architecture, interior design, space planning, and project management since 1990. In 1999 - 2001, Archetype International lead the master planning process for the Grand Avenue facility, which included the implementation of a $28M publishing system. Working in concert with multiple OC Register teams, Archetype's services included project management as well as architecture and design to support a "re-stack" of the office tower and plans for five outside offices and the Anaheim Print facility. The project was completed in under 24 months and included the relocation of over 800 personnel. Other projects have included renovations in the executive offices, cafeteria, news room, and operations areas. Architectural services to support a new printing press in Anaheim and renovations for the offices and broadcast facilities of KDOC TV, have been among many other exciting projects with the Register.

The OC Register

WHITTIER LAW SCHOOL

To accomplish their goal of becoming Orange County's first ABA accredited Law School, Whittier Law School began their search for a suitable site in 1994. Archetype International was instrumental in providing program requirements and evaluating the feasibility of several candidate sites. The Costa Mesa location was selected in 1995, at the site of a former defense contractor facility. This exciting "re-purposing" project included architectural planning and design, and interior design for the three building campus. The facilities include large lecture hall tiered classrooms, as well as small and mid size classrooms, administration and faculty offices, a court room, student services and a 50,000 SF law library.

Whittier Law School

CITY OF GARDEN GROVE P.D. & T.M.C.

Located within City Hall, the Traffic Management Center monitors 37 closed circuit cameras located at major intersections and points of interest in the City. The new center features a 9' wide video wall comprised of six, 50" LED cubed screens. It is located behind an 11 foot wide glass pane which can be changed from opaque to clear. The project included interior architecture, interior design, and project management for the Traffic Center and adjacent Public Works offices.
For the City of Garden Grove Police Department, Archetype International provided plans, to reorganize space utilization within the existing building structure, while providing for higher efficiency, an updated work environment with new interiors, new furnishings, and design. The space includes office space for both sworn and non-sworn personnel, prisoner interview rooms, support spaces, and a conference room featuring a "Sky Lift" room dividing system.

City of Garden Grove

AN ORANGE COUNTY AEROSPACE GROUP

An Orange County Aerospace Group, located in Irvine CA operates an office, engineering and manufacturing facility in Irvine which encompasses over 100,000 SF (office) & 228,000 SF (manufacturing/warehouse). Archetype International has provided interior design services in support of facility operations to include a new corporate interior design concept. The renovations include a new casual "cafe"/lounge areas at each floor, interior finishes, office relocations, and new central processing rooms.

BANKS AND CREDIT UNIONS

Schools First Federal Credit Union (Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union), Banco Popular and Arrowhead Credit Union are among Archetype International's financial sector clients. The firm has provided services at over 30 sites, which include interior architecture, planning and design for new and remodeled branch operations, tenant improvements, ATM installations, site and interior ADA/accessibility upgrades.

OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE RENOVATIONS

Archetype International provided extensive programming and architectural investigation in order to determine a strategic plan for reorganization and renovation of the Administration buildings and Library facilities, in order to serve the college well into the next century. Interior and exterior improvement projects have included accessibility design for the Library, interior design and renovations for the Library, a computer training lab, and interior improvements in the Administration Building.

Occidental College

LOBBY RENOVATIONS

PacifiCare/Lake Forest Office Building - This high rise (7 story) multi-tenant office building, was constructed in 1982. Archetype's services have included 114,000 S.F. of multi-tenant improvement & renovation projects in 95% of leaseable spaces, as well as common areas. Responsibilities have included architectural and interior design services for a variety of tenant types, as well as the coordination and extensive upgrade to building systems.
Working under the decision of Burnham Real Estate Services for American Realty Advisors, Archetype International provided interior design services for this class A office building in Newport Beach. Project scope included lobby renovations, interior finish materials selection and specification of common area finishes, furniture, art work, and plants. Interior architectural renovation plans were provided for the roof top lounge area and lobby café.
Biosense Webster, a Johnson and Johnson company, is a medical device manufacturer with offices in Brea, CA. Archetype International provided interior architecture and interior design for the corporate lobby in Brea, CA.

SCANTRON H.Q. PRINT FACILITY

Scantron retained Archetype International in 1999 to provide an in depth Needs Assessment, Project Program Report. The Detailed Operations and Space Needs Assessment Report became the basis for the decision to relocate the corporate offices and print facilities to a larger facility in Irvine, CA. Archetype International provided the architecture, facility planning and interior design for the renovation in an existing office/industrial facility. The new corporate headquarters and print facility encompassed 115,000 SF. The company has since relocated its administrative offices to Santa Ana, CA in 2010. Archetype International has provided on-going architecture, interior planning & design services for Scantron and parent company, Harland Clarke for facilities throughout the State of California.

INDUSTRIAL/MANUFACTURING & T.I.

Since 1987, Archetype International has worked with both Property Management firms as well as Facility Users to provide a complete range of architectural, interior planning and interior design projects for a variety of manufacturing environments and industrial properties. Property Management clients have included Birtcher Anderson, Cushman and Wakefield, Jones Lang LaSalle, CB Richard Ellis and others. Manufacturing/Industrial Facility clients have included Kawasaki, Mercedes Benz, and GT Bicycles.
